|
The boards, employees, and volunteers of Independent
Living Services and Creative Living will be guided by the following principles:

Each person has value
-
Each person has the right to live in the community
and participate in services of their choice.

Each person is capable of growth and development.
-
Each person needs access to opportunities and
information in order to make choices and exercise basic rights.
-
Each person deserves access to supports and services
that enhance development, independence, productivity, and maintenance of general health
and well being.
-
Each person deserves access to a decent and
appropriate place to live and the opportunity to work in places and jobs of their
choosing.
-
Each person/family/guardian has a right to an
explanation of services and to a choice regarding those services provided by ILS/CL or
other agencies, including the right to refuse treatment.

Each person has a right to services that are specific
to his or her needs and wants, and an easily understood plan of care that includes his or
her participation.
-
Each person who is a citizen of the United States of
America has the right to fully exercise those rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Independent Living Services (ILS) is a non-profit service
agency that endeavors to assist in making a better life possible for people with
developmental disabilities in their own home or ILS's residences within the communities of
Faulkner County, Arkansas. ILS recognizes that each person is different and provides an
array of services to best meet individual needs.
ILS will strive:

To provide services in an atmosphere of dignity
and respect as people work toward reaching
their life goals while living in the community;

To provide a safe, healthy, caring home environment where
people can live a good quality of life;

To provide training and assistance that will enable the
person to perform well within the community;
-
To assist in establishing a network of friends and family
connections that will assist the individual through the adventures of daily living.
ILS PROVIDES SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL
DISABILITIES OR RELATED CONDITIONS.
Developmental Disability: A
disability whose onset occurs before the age of twenty-two. The disability may require
medical/social service assistance to enable the individual to care properly for themselves
during their lifetime. This definition includes people with mental retardation, cerebral
palsy, epilepsy, autism or related conditions.
